Modern Slavery
Canada's Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (a Modern Slavery Act) requires reporting entities to identify parts of their activities and supply chains that carry a risk of forced labour or child labour being used, either in the entity's own activities or in the activities of any entities it controls, or those of its direct or indirect suppliers. Reporting entities must complete a mandatory questionnaire, develop an annual supply chain risk report and submit both to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness by May 31, following the related fiscal year end, among other requirements. Reporting entities are also required to make their report publicly accessible by publishing prominently on their website.
