Our Safety and Environment Management System (SEMS) establishes key elements that must be in place throughout our business to ensure success in operational safety. NuVista’s SEMS is aligned with international oil and gas industry frameworks and is continually reviewed and improved upon to ensure its effectiveness.
Health and Safety
Our Management System
Leadership
Safety starts with leadership and senior management’s responsibility to establish direction, set expectations, provide resources and ensure alignment on safety across the organization. Senior leaders at NuVista are continually engaged with all levels of the organization on plans, performance and the health of our safety culture.
Life Saving Rules
Our commitment to building a culture of safety and prioritizing the prevention of serious injuries and fatalities is demonstrated in our adherence to Energy Safety Canada’s 10 Life Saving Rules. These Life Saving Rules offer clear directives for making safe choices across various operational scenarios.
Emergency Response Plan
Preparations must be in place at all NuVista worksites to respond effectively to any emergency. Planning is not a one-off activity. Effective emergency planning is a cyclical process involving initial assessment, planning, education, exercise, and review. This ensures that the plan is up-to date and can be implemented effectively during an emergency. To ensure we are well prepared when the need arises, we go beyond regulatory requirements for training and conduct a major in-field emergency response exercise every year.
